Getting To Know Our Belize Deputy Registrars
Ms. Sabina Gonzalez Solis, newly appointed Deputy
The International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) has designated Ms. Sabina Gonzalez its new Deputy Registrar in Panama. “We are very pleased to introduce Ms. Gonzalez amongst the group of our Deputy Registrars. She is a very knowledgeable person of our registration process and of all the safety and security regulations required by IMMARBE for its Belize-flagged vessels in order to maintain our Friendly Flag of Quality,” said IMMARBE Director Capt. Encarnacion Samaniego. “Her tenure as Director of IMMARBE during five years assures us she will work conscientiously to increase the fleet with quality ships,” he added. Ms. Gonzalez is a renowned Panamanian lawyer who held several official positions in her country’s maritime administration. In 1996, she became Director and Senior Deputy Registrar of IMMARBE, a position she maintained until 2001. Since then, she is the deputy general manager and legal attorney of the Panama Maritime Group, which is a strategic maritime and corporate structure with over twenty years of experience to the international community. PMG, headquartered in Panama, has over 100 representative offices around the world. The Panama Maritime Group, under the presidency of Dr. Hugo Torrijos Richa, includes the following companies: Panama Maritime Documentation Services (PMDS) that performs surveys and statutory certification under the scope of national laws and regulations and international conventions; the law firm Torrijos & Associates for offshore incorporations, ships registration and legal consultancy; and Marine Training & Certification Centre (MTCC) that is providing training to seafarers and related services with custom-designed programs and technicians, both at customers’ locations or PMG’s. Following this important appointment, the Deputy Registrar of IMMARBE’s head office, Ms. Annette Garel, together with Captain Demetrio Cortes conducted a two day training session with the legal staff of the new designated office in Panama (see featured picture above) to acquaint them with the Belize Registry’s policies and procedures in ship registration.
IMMARBE appoints Mr. Vasileios Dimopoulos, Deputy Registrar in Athens, Greece
Mr. Vassileios Dimopoulos, an expert on vessel registration with 20 years of experience, was appointed by the International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) Deputy Registrar in Greece. Mr. Dimopoulos is also the Deputy Manager of Maritime Activities Consultants (MAC), established in Piraeus, Greece which is an exclusive agent for IMMARBE since November 2009. “Being able to include Vassileios Dimopoulos amongst our Deputy Registrars is guarantee, for us at IMMARBE, that we will increase the registration of vessels owned by Greek Shipowners,” said IMMARBE Director Capt. Encarnacion Samaniego in June 2010 during Posidonia exhibition. Mr. Vassileios Dimopoulos and Mr.Evans Oikonomou, Maritime Activities Consultants (M.A.C.) General Manager, visited IMMARBE’s booth at Posidonia (see picture) where they could exchange information with IMMARBE officials and visiting customers.
Erik de Koning: Belize’s Deputy Registrar in the Netherlands.
Erik de Koning is Belize’s Deputy Registrar in Rotterdam, the Netherlands where his company Hubel Marine is well known for the excellence of its services and a strong contributor of vessel registrations for Belize. “Belize is a creative flag state, which is always thinking about its clients. But what I consider the most important of all is that we can easily discuss with Belize representatives and solve any eventual problem that might arise,” says de Koning. With comprehensive services, Hubel Marine has a wide range of ship owners including big liners, new buildings, bulk, tankers and the offshore market “where Hubel Marine is very strongly represented,” says de Koning. The firm’s flag registration department is being used by customers from Norway, UK, Spain, Italy, Turkey, and more but “our strength is that we provide the best service and we do it ourselves.” Hubel Marine works with a pool of lawyers that are selected by the firm for each client’s needs and according to the services required and “we select the best suitable for the ship owner or bank.” Hubel Marine has seven surveyors based in Dubai, Lebanon, United Kingdom Poland, Germany, Belgium and Holland, all “accustomed to fly all over the world to perform their surveys,” says de Koning.
Belize appoints New Deputy Registrar in Japan
Mr. Koki Maruyama of Kyoritsu Radio Service Co. Ltd., was recently appointed as Deputy Registrar of Belize for Japan. Mr. Maruyama brings years of experience in the maritime field and will play a key role in securing new registrations for the Belize Registry in the very important ship registration market in Japan. Mr. Maruyama joins our loyal and long standing Deputy Registrar, Mr. Isao Harada currently situated in Japan.
