INTER-AMERICAN TROPICAL TUNA COMMISSION (IATTC)
Regulated Area:
The convention area includes the Eastern Pacific Ocean (EPO), bounded by the coastline of North, Central and South American, 40 degrees north to 40 degrees south, 150 degrees west.

Antigua Convention
Belize’s Status in IATTC
Belize acceded to the IATTC Antigua Convention which comes into effect August 2010. As a result, Belize is now a Contracting Party of IATTC.
Capacities and Limitations:
All our fishing vessels operating in this Convention area are listed on the IATTC’s Regional Register of Authorized Fishing Vessels. We presently have the opportunity to register an additional 15 long line vessels to operate in this area to target tuna and tuna like species and sharks. We also can entertain the registration and licensing of fishing vessels targeting species not regulated by this Commission. Licensing of Purse Seine vessels to operate in this area is considered only under special circumstances and on a case by case basis.
