CONVENTIONS RATIFIED BY BELIZE

Belize has acceded/ratified to the following Conventions relating to Fishing Vessels:

• Issued Instrument of Accession to the Convention for the Strengthening of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (“the Antigua Convention”).

• Issued Instrument of Acceptance for the Establishment of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission.

• Issued Instrument of Adherence to the International Convention for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas.

• Issued Instrument of Acceptance for the Agreement to Promote Compliance with International Conservation and Management Measures by Fishing Vessels on the High Seas, 1993.

• Issued Instruction of Accession for the Agreement relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fishing Stocks.

• Effectively implemented the International Plan of Action to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing which was adopted on 2nd March 2001 and signed on 23rd June 2001
