Seafarers Services

IMMARBE’s Seafarers Department is responsible for the processing of seafarer endorsements for certificates of Competencies in accordance with Reg 1/2 of the STCW 78 Convention as amended in 2010 and the monitoring of crew compliance on board all Belize registered vessels.  Belize is on the IMO Whitelist of the countries and as such we only accept Certificates of Competencies from persons certificated by countries from this list.  

The Seafarers Department ensures that all officers hold valid Belize endorsements to serve on board Belize Registered vessels. Appropriate evidence that the applicant is in possession of a recognized and valid medical certificate is also required for the processing of Belize’s endorsement of Seafarer certificates.  

In an effort to provide an efficient and effective service, the Seafarers Department has taken action regarding the security features of all seafarer certificates for easy recognition, prevention of fraudulent activity, and compliance with the amended STCW 2010 convention. We have included a QR code and random ID on each certificate that allows for easy verification of authenticity and validity.  

Deputy Registrars through our designated offices, are now the recommended medium to provide seafarer services. Seafarer Services include, apart from the issue of Endorsement Certificates, the issue of Marine Technician Books, Seaman Books, and Certificates for Specialized Training for Certain Ships.
