Bareboat Charter In Registration

Foreign vessels may be registered at IMMARBE as a second flag (“Charter in”) under the terms of a bareboat charter party agreement. Upon submission of an authenticated copy of the bareboat charter party agreement and a permission/consent letter from the vessel’s first/mother flag and the corresponding fees, the navigational documents will be valid for up to two years.  During the term of the dual registration, one- or two-years annual fees will be payable to the Registry. Any title, mortgage and any liens or encumbrances thereon shall be recorded at the vessel First Registry. 

The following documentation is required for provisional registration: 

  1. Application Form for Registration of Ships  
  2. Application of Ship Station License  
  3. Official document proving ownership of the vessel (i.e., First/Mother Registry Navigational documents, Bill of Sale) 
  4. Letter of Appointment duly signed by appointed Belize Shipping Agent. 
  5. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation (where applicable) 
  6. Copy of the Bareboat Charter Agreement  
  7. Copy of the First/Mother Registry permission/consent letter 
  8. Sanctions Affidavit (if applicable) 
  9. Letter of confirmation from an authorized radio accounting entity undertaking the payment of vessel’s radio accounts 
  10. Application Form for Minimum Safe Manning  
  11. Application for the CRAs for crew members on board the delivery voyage 
  12. Application for Bunker Certificate along with the Blue Card (for vessel over 1000gt)  
  13. Application for Nairobi Wreck Removal Certificate along with the Blue Card (for vessels over 300gt) 
  14. Application for Civil Liability Certificate along with the Blue Card (for oil tanker vessels) 
  15. ISPS Application Form (if applicable to ISPS Code) 
  16. Reporting of Owners/Operators (if applicable to ISPS Code) 
  17. Reporting of Company Security (if applicable to ISPS Code) 
  18. Payment of appropriate fees
