Bareboat Charter Out Registration
A vessel registered at IMMARBE may obtain a parallel registration in another country’s registry without affecting its status in Belize (“Charter out”) also based on a charter party. For this purpose, the applicant shall submit a formal application giving full details of the bareboat charter party agreement. If satisfied that all formalities have been complied with, the Registry’s Head Office may authorize the vessel’s dual registration for a period of up to two years. During the term of the dual registration, all relevant annual and other fees will be payable to the Registry. Its title, mortgage and any liens or encumbrances thereon shall be recorded at IMMARBE. Once a vessel under a bareboat charter out registration has been granted dual out registration.
The following documentation is required for bareboat charter out registration:
- Application Form for Registration of Ships
- Application of Ship Station License
- Official document proving ownership of the vessel (i.e., Bill of Sale, Builder’s Certificate, Judicial Sale Instrument, Deletion Certificate, Memorandum of Agreement with Protocol of Delivery)
- Letter of Appointment duly signed by appointed Belize Shipping Agent
- Copy of Certificate of Incorporation (where applicable)
- Original Deletion Certificate or Certified copy of extract of registry or permission to transfer by the previous register (if available)
- Sanctions Affidavit (if applicable)
- Copy of the Bareboat Charter Agreement
During the approved bareboat charter out status, all statutory certificates, endorsements will be suspended for the one- or two-years period.
