Provisional Registration

IMMARBE accepts vessels for provisional registration which is valid for six months and can be granted up to two extensions with a validity period of three months per extension. During this time, the shipowner is expected to gather all documents necessary for permanent registration.  

The following documentation is required for provisional registration: 

  1. Application Form for Registration of Ships  
  2. Application of Ship Station License  
  3. Official document proving ownership of the vessel (i.e., Bill of Sale, Builder’s Certificate, Judicial Sale Instrument, Deletion Certificate, Memorandum of Agreement with Protocol of Delivery) 
  4. Letter of Appointment duly signed by appointed Belize Shipping Agent. 
  5. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation (where applicable) 
  6. Original Deletion Certificate or Certified copy of extract of registry or permission to transfer by the previous register (if available) 
  7. Sanctions Affidavit (if applicable) 
  8. Letter of confirmation from an authorized radio accounting entity undertaking the payment of vessel’s radio accounts 
  9. Application Form for Minimum Safe Manning  
  10. Application for the CRAs for crew members on board the delivery voyage 
  11. Application for Bunker Certificate along with the Blue Card (for vessel over 1000gt)  
  12. Application for Nairobi Wreck Removal Certificate along with the Blue Card (for vessels over 300gt) 
  13. Application for Civil Liability Certificate along with the Blue Card (for oil tanker vessels) 
  14. ISPS Application Form (if applicable to ISPS Code) 
  15. Reporting of Owners/Operators (if applicable to ISPS Code) 
  16. Reporting of Company Security (if applicable to ISPS Code)  
  17. Payment of appropriate fees
