Under Construction Registration

IMMARBE accepts vessels for registration “under construction” once the vessel keel is laid for construction. In such instances, the charges other than the registration fee are levied until the vessel is ready to sail. Mortgages and liens can also be recorded when registered. The navigational documents produced for this type of registration will have the indication, “UNDER CONSTRUCTION” and will be replaced ones as soon as the construction is finished, and the vessel complies with all necessary requirements for a safe navigation.

The following will be required for vessels under construction:

  1. Application form for Registration of Ships
  2. Application of Ship Station License
  3. Official document proving ownership of the vessel, that is, a notarized declaration from the shipyard/builders with the particulars of the vessel and name of the owners for whom the vessel is being built
  4. Letter of appointment a shipping agent in Belize
  5. Payments of appropriate fees

After completion of the vessel construction, it will need to submit with all necessary documents for provisional registration and pay all annual taxes and other necessary fees.
